A future Cyclone will lead Lake Travis' offense this fall. A Bulldog-in-waiting will help anchor the Cavaliers' defense.James Bailey, a rising senior at Lake Travis, announced on his Twitter account on Monday that he will play football at Fresno State. The Bulldogs posted an 11-2 record in 2013, and the college has former LBJ defensive back Randon Knotts and ex-Westwood kicker Colin McGuire on its 2014 roster.
Bailey will join Lake Travis quarterback Dominic DeLira among the Austin area's 2015 recruits. DeLira will play football for an Iowa State program that also offered Bailey a scholarship.
Listed on Rivals.com as a six-foot-two-inch, 180-pound defensive back, Bailey is coming off a season in which he earned first-team all-district honors as a linebacker. Bailey recorded 70 tackles and four sacks during his junior season, and he also broke up seven pass attempts.
Lake Travis allowed 14.3 points per game in 2013, and the Cavaliers will return six defensive starters this fall.
